  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?    In normal filming projects done by bigger, wealthier  companies they have a larger budget with much more equipment to use while shooting . All we had was a phone, tripod, and a free editing app. We managed to challenge the notion that shooting high quality work needs to be expensive and done with extravagant tools. This represents the social issue that you need to spend a lot of money to produce a quality result. Through our music video, w e challenged conventions by only using the items we had at home. Rather than going out and purchasing props, cameras, etc. The only purchases we made were to enter the fair , eat, and play games. As a team we shot our video and edited with the little resources we were supplied with.      2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?    Our video engages audiences because the song we

Cut and Paste: Production Blog

Welcome back everyone! We've finally gotten to the editing stage. We had to many extra shots. So we had to figure out which ones fit perfectly together. First, we got out the scene where Jack lost for the second time. Mainly because I was barely visible in the video. Second, we made a few scenes shorter. There was a lot of bulk in some clips. This video is only supposed to be a minute or so. Next were the transitions. When we filmed Sean did some with his phone itself. So for example when filming he'd start filming facing the sky and pan down. Then at the end of the shot it would go quickly down. This helped with the seamless transition. Then in CapCut we could add transitions. It made the video look more polished. Last was coloring. We wanted a filter that would bring out the colors of the sky and games. I tried a few but couldn't find one I liked. Than I tried one called Tan. It was perfect. It intensified the saturation at the perfect level. It wasn't too much where

Welcome back! After the extensive time it took for us to film we need. We made sure to get all the scenes we needed. I saw some of the footage and the shots came out really good. I love how the lights shined on us throughout the video. Honestly, it was exactly what I wanted. The scenery was so beautiful. When we got there the sun was already setting. It gave us the golden hour effect. After then sun starting going down the sky was filled with beautiful colors. The sunset was just breathtaking. Again, it gave us the perfect background. Then the sun went down and this is where the lights came in handy. It was so colorful wherever you went. The main struggle we had were the lines. Some were extremely long which wasted time. For example, the Ferris Wheel. We had no choice but to wait. This was the "money shot". It was maybe 10 minutes but that could've been spent elsewhere. The other lines weren't too long. The waits were less than 5 minutes. Overall, it was a productive

We filmed: Production Blog

Hi, welcome back! I am so excited to finally say that we filmed. We all got here on time except one person. We found out that Randy’s car had broken down. So unfortunately he couldn’t make it. We ended up having to switch roles around. Jack had to play Randy’s role. And instead of a group film, it became a romance story. This was very difficult to film. The longs were kind of long. And our director was trying to make us shoot scenes we weren’t comfortable with filming. For example a kiss scene. We want this to be a family friendly film. Also me and Jack are completely friends. There was no way I would get that close to him. Even to do a project, I couldn’t do it. Other than that we got all our shots in. But we switched the entering shot for the last shot of leaving. It all worked out nice. Plus we got to leave fast.

Welcome back! We have finally been able to plan out what we wanna do. After consistent research we found a fair we can go to. It was a bit of a drive but it was the only one. The group and I decided that we'll film at Santa's Enchanted Forest. We had a little trouble finding a day to film. Originally it was supposed to be Saturday but Sean and Randy had to work plus I had a Debate Tournament. So our next option was Sunday. Although it's my mom's birthday we decided to make it work. We needed to get there at 5 because that's when it opened. But we needed to get our of there as soon as possible. I estimate that the filming could take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. I specifically needed to leave as soon as possible. I really wanted to spend as much time with my mom. Also the drive from Fort Lauderdale to Miami is long. So Sean's mom would have to drive almost 2 hours with traffic there and back. I would rather get all the shots done and leave than wa

Quarantine Time: Production

Over the weekend I went to a wedding. I had a great time with my family. I danced all night it was great. We got home late. And over the next few days my Dad wasn't feeling too good. We weren't too concerned at first. He took some medicine and it heled. But it never got better. He went to the doctor and was diagnosed with something minor. But we got the call. We found out a whole bunch of our family members had caught Covid 19. That was when we started to worry. So we thought it would be best to test him. And unfortunately he tested positive. He quarantined immediately to avoid contamination. We tested the next day and we're negative. However, I won't be able to film Saturday. So we'll need to reschedule. Hopefully, we find a new fair and date to film. Til next time!

While trying to plan out when we're going to film this weekend, we found out the fair is closing soon. So we need to find a new fair. Or if anything happens change our location entirely. This interferes with out storyboard too. I am really nervous how we'll fix this. I started looking for fairs in our area. But it's very difficult. Most of them haven't opened yet and we have a small window for this project. There's the Christmas Fair Market. I looks promising. But I'm not sure if it's the fair we're looking for. I'm trying to search up pictures but I can't find any that matches the idea in my head. Hopefully, we can find something that fits our storyboard. So far the pictures don't look to bad. But they aren't radiating the energy I want. I need a fair more like the movies. For example, like the fair in Kissing Booth. I wan all the bright colors and lights. I need this to be like a normal teenage movie cliché. It needs to be perfect.
